DINGO POLITICS
The question is did they? Once again on the mainland, on the Queensland mainland, a city resident on the suburban interface lost pet canines to wild ones.
The story as reported so easily brands the killer canines as dingoes, but were they?
They were reported as large animals and anyone with an ounce of knowledge knows wild dogs are the large of the wild canine species, not the pure dingo . What I am getting at is, most wild canids wandering today are in fact wild hybrid dogs. A mongrel species long leaving their dingo ancestral culture behind, along with their pure genetics.
As the Liberal National Party so rightly goes to bat for the real true Dingo in a habitat where it can stay undiluted, Fraser Island, this same political party (LNP) must also declare their wider wild dog policy.
With well over 90% of all wild canids on the eastern seaboard excluding Fraser Island being hybrids to the point they are not Dingoes.
With over 90% of these hybrids carrying diseases such as Neospora – a calf aborting disease, and Hydatid – a human disease of terrible consequences.
With most of these wild dogs growing to a body weight of twice the kilos of a true dingo.
With most attacks on the eastern seaboard easily attributable to wild dogs not true dingoes.
The LNP needs to speak out for mainland Queensland, not just Fraser Island’s unique and worthy of protection species of Dingo.
More importantly, the current government needs to apply a bounty upon the wild dog to a level that not only will be effective inducement to hunt the curs down, but will also subsidise the rural sector and in part remmunerate for previous bad environmental policy. 1080 is a great poison for these guys and its use needs to be increased. Yet the old folk on the coast of north eastern Australia will remember the story how the conical trochus and dinner plate sized pearl shell were made almost extinct on the reef by virtue of their very value. Put a realistic price on the head of the wild dog and in a few short years, they will no longer be a threat and the real dingo could once again be allowed to howl with pride from the depths of the bush.
Sadly the media are complicit in informing the public that there is no difference between a dingo and a wild dog. Even in this latest story linked to here, the journalist clearly and intentionally told the story as if it was unquestionably dingoes responsible for this pet carnage in a back yard, and ensured they covered all bases by inferring to the reader; the dingo is no different than the scourge hybrid, by using the term wild dog in the last two sentences in a way that in journalist speak was an intentional melding of the two species. As scientists with an agenda spread the misguided falsity,” the wild dog must be allowed to permeate our bush as the new top order predator“, our bush is vacuumed of small fauna from insects to frogs to small marsupials and now their numbers are such, they brazenly are but an opportunistic moment from taking a baby out of a cot basking in the sun in a suburban back yard.
The wild dog is a new species called, “dangerous mongrel” and it must be culled.
- One to relieve the rural sector.
- Two to remove an immense disease threat.
- Three to safe guard the unsuspecting child who on an urban interface will have no understanding of the threat these animals pose.
LNP, if you support the Fraser Island Dingo, in turn, you need to support the neccessary means for mainland Queensland to rid the state of an animal that is no friend of humans, the true dingos’, or the environment. It is not good enough to run politics on an emotive newsy subject, just because the coverage is beneficial to your political cause. The great stance you’ve taken for Fraser Island and its pure Dingoes is partly sullied by a much more important stance required against wild dogs on the mainland, one of which you appear to be most quiet.
