Who Is Group "M" ?

Click here to download your copy of our how to vote card Our group of candidates has been chosen from all walks of life, from all over New South Wales, both city and country.

None of us are career politicians. All are hard working practical people.

We believe many of the elected politicians have lost touch with reality and forgotten what it is to live in the real world. Yet they are the ones making decisions that effect all of us.

If elected to the upper house, we intend to give government a much needed reality check. Click on their how to vote card to load the full size and print it out if you want your voice hear in parliament. outside the closed party room mentality.

Jack Tait is the lead candidate for GROUP M (Independents Day) who has had enough of the political spin and arrogant mismanagement of the lower house government.

I am a self-employed resident of Batemans Bay on the New South Wales South Coast with strong business and personal connections throughout the State.

I have recently been very active in the fight to make the current Government listen to the people’s concerns over it's blind push to impose Marine Parks state wide. The State Government has advanced only vague theories about the possible environmental benefit and has a policy of:
  • No Consultation
  • No science
  • No regard for the economic damage they are doing to coastal communities
This must stop!

I believe it's time Governments started to govern for the majority instead of being driven by their own secret agendas and instead of pandering to minority groups.

That's why I have decided to organise a group of like-minded independents to run for the Senate in order to return power to the people which Government has stolen from them.

Scientist/Farmer Noeline Franklin, Dr Harry Seagal MD, Joe Chiddiac truck driver, Ian Franklin Engineer/Farmer, Geoff David Farmer, are some of our candidates standing in GROUP M.

Editors Interview

In an interview with SOS-NEWS Editor Mal Davies, Mr Tait identified that the Lower house of Parliament was almost a fait acompli as far as the major two party result was concerned.

This comes about by virtue of the preferential voting system that we live with, but the Upper House is altogether another situation

The Upper House is where the people are supposed to be represented by State wide members and those member are supposed to take to parliament and reflect the wishes, desires and interests of the State's people.

This has ceased to happen over the past decades due to the undemocratic monopoly that has occurred by the two party system controlling both houses of Parliament with the insidious help of the Greens while they feather their own nest.

It is the team I am first in, who believe by Group M receiving the people's confidence and electing us to the Upper House, we can and will deliver the people's expectations, which are not able to be done by any other group so extensively.

Our credits, and therefore our creditability extend from the immense small business and life's skills and experience that the entire team bring as a group. From the Fishing, Farming, Trades, IT, Medical, Transport and Family issues to name a few.

As each Candidate in our team is a true Independent - campaigning under a group listing enabling the team to battle the two party controlled system - we will bring a wealth of social and business experience and an immensely wide societal ear, to the Upper House. A situation the main players do not wish to see arise, the people's voice.

"Group M" are true NSW Independents and enter this political fray with no allegiance to any other party or group, in fact, we have been approached by many other people and groups and parties campaigning for us to align in many different ways, but have declined all those representations for us to do so.

Australian Nostradamus

182 years ago a prominent settler of this Nation fore saw the future and publicly declared it for all to hear. How true were his words.

In 1825 William Charles Wentworth, democratic activist and son of a British naval surgeon and his convict wife, in a speech fare welling Governor Brisbane, exerted his symbolic constitutional rights of a British subject expressing an emancipist opinion in a public forum attacking the exclusives.

He described the exclusives (some free settlers and officials) as “yellow snakes of the Colony” embodiment of privilege, monopoly, control and autocracy unbecoming in a developing colony and hoped one day to “deprive them of their venom and fangs” Essentially the colonies were being set up by the exclusives so convicts never ended their sentence and an indefinite class system set up ever after for children of convict families.

Devious Dealings

Debus employs Paul Keating to finalise his final dastardly deed of selling off NSW before leaving office and all we need to see now is that Bob Carr’s corporate mates in the Macquarie Bank are the financiers and he will have a hat trick of a legacy.

Once again the National Parks and Wildlife Service under the control of this Minister of destruction Bob Debus and his minions Corbyn and Fleming are in the process of utilising our parks for their ends.

Read the release from the SMH below and weep. The saving grace this park is in the heart of Sydney and not screwing over rural folk and communities.

Goat Island plans lure big gun

PAUL KEATING was in character yesterday on a visit to the former set of the '90s TV drama Water Rats. Dressed in shiny cop sunglasses, his coat draped casually over his shoulder and adopting a swagger Colin Friels would be proud of, the former prime minister even tethered a boat to the wharf at Goat Island.

He was there with the Environment Minister, Bob Debus, and Labor's candidate for Balmain, Verity Firth, to announce the Government's plan for the island, which offers two options.

Under one, most of the buildings on the island would be torn down and replaced by native trees. The harbourmaster's residence would stay, but the building where Water Rats was shot would be removed, along with four small cottages and a decrepit wharf.

The other option would keep most of the buildings, but they would be renovated and leased as cafes.

Mr Debus said the public had until June 11 to make submissions, which would be considered by National Parks and Wildlife and a community reference group, which has not yet been created.

Mr Keating clearly did not need that long to make up his mind. "All of a sudden we've got ourselves a natural, almost romantic, park right at the western end of the harbour," he said. "Once it's done then no developer will get their sticky fingers on it in the future."

The Government budgeted $9 million for the project two years ago, but Mr Debus yesterday admitted both options would cost much more. The island, which was variously a convict stockade, quarry and magazine, would eventually be back on the ferry timetable, he said.

The National Trust's conservation director, Jacqui Goddard, said she would be surprised if the Government retained the cottages: "It doesn't fit with what they have done in other places. I suspect they are trying to encourage support for the option they want."
