An article by Debbie Schipp in the Sydney Sunday Telegraph on December 31st 2006 (page 23) informing readers of the pending slaughter AGAIN of our heritage horses the "Brumby".

She quotes a Wild Horse Management Plan stating that Brumby's damage vegetation and fauna habitats, then quotes of 24 species of fauna and 21 flora species - let us not forget the damage to streams and passing parasites into the water supply.

The only parasites that are a threat to the environment is the COLONG FOUNDATION - National Parks and their radical Green Masters.

This execution squad comprises of 12 people she quotes as the - Rural protection Board, RSPCA, Sydney Catchment Authority, Local Community person, National Parks ASSOCIATION (NSWNPWS - a Radical Green Group) and heavens forbid someone from a Brumby Protection Group.

She does touch on the Guy Fawks Brumby Execution squad, to which we did a full exposure of that blood bath by unskilled shooters from Choppers with Brumby's left to die riddled with bullets and we have, it would seem, a simular same team set in place under the cloak and dagger department of National Parks.

It is time for the people in purported positions of importance to be made accountable personally for the statements that are attributed to them and intentionally mislead the public. A public that have every right and expectation to consider that people such as National Parks and Wildlife Southern Regional Director Alistair Henchman are telling them the truth, not just spin to suit the NPWS's agenda.

Two statements are reported as being attributed to Henchmen in the Canberra Times. One is that 'the NPWS have conducted 14 hazard reduction burns in critical areas of the Kosciuszko National Park since 2003.

The second is Kosciuszko has always had dead trees which were not a fire hazard in themselves, the potential danger was in the finer fuel in shrub cover and studies showed grazing made no difference to its potential to burn.

Firstly Henchman needs to be made to clearly identify where, when and exactly what area and size were these hazard reduction burns conducted, for our stoolies in and around the Henchmen camp advise that no hazard reduction burns that could be deemed to be considered sufficient in any way have in reality carried out in the Snowy Mountains.

Secondly, yes the Kosciuszko has always had dead trees scattered in a dispersed manner across the forest as a natural process of trees dying off, but never has it faced the dead trees brought about by the 2003 inferno that swept the mountains from top to bottom. These millions of dead trees are an incredible fire hazard in themselves with out question and for Henchman to say to the contrary, is absolute Bullshit spewing forth from a person in a position of parks control and public information.

One only has to wander through the mountains and note the trees that are dead in the top, but are struggling to survive from the growth spurting from their trunks. These trees in many, many cases are in their death throws and with the ladder from the forest floor to the very dead wood higher up, each one of these trees is a veritable roman candle waiting for the fuse to be lit. As the fuel loads increase under the Kosciuszko forest this threat to the remaining trees becomes ever so more deadly.

The shrub layer that Henchman talks about is actually scrub, not shrub. It robs the forest floor of any chance of grasses that used to grow under the trees and reaches heights that also cause fire to reach the canopy and cause crowning fires. The need to control as much of this scrub and falling debris from as much of the mountains forest floor as possible, as soon as possible, after the 2003 inferno has been lost.

Henchman also slips in the inability of grazing to alter the potential for this scrub to burn. This guy is not stupid, he is just a spin doctor that has his snout so far into the trough that he is not adverse to lying to the public in an attempt to control the public's perception of the truth.

The Snowy Mountains were never a closed canopy forest in general terms as implied by Henchman. This only came about once the tree huggers of all types got control many decades ago. Cool burn and grazing not only kept the forest floor grassy pasture, but also devoid of massive fuel loads, and where grazing was not the entire answer, Mountain folk dropped a match to control the scrub growth. After such burns and the subsequent rains that followed, grass would push through and stock would follow. Both sheep and cattle and this in turn would break down the scrub, trampling the undergrowth where it still remained as fuel load.

It is this stock trampled fuel load that Henchman, by virtue of his position, and the statement the potential danger was in the finer fuel in shrub cover and studies showed grazing made no difference to its potential to burn." Is lying this time. He knows that even if the amount of fuel load in quantity is not changed by grazing, the reality is and has been scientifically proven that stock compression of such fuel load changes not the quantity, but rather the structure and by this structural change to the scrub fuel load the actual fire intensity and rate of burn is dramatically changed.

Henchman knows this, but is prepared to Bullshit to the contrary. We apologise to our readers for the language, but we have had enough of these people and it is time to kick arse and tell it as it is and we ask the public to do the same. It is their semantic play on words that has allowed these snout troughers to prosper when in fact they are the cause of 80 percent of the problem. Whether these disingenuous ratbags are sucking on the toes of Corbyn, Fleming or Debus, or just wallowing in the trough because it is personally expedient is of no consequence. The coming change of government in March has to be based on a massive change of environmental rationale and bureaucrats like Henchman have to seek work in the local supermarket for there is no place for them in our mountains.
