RFS - "Cone Of Silence"
Just in to SOS-NEWS (as we are ready to email out) from a bushfire captain 10 Kilometres North of Kiandra NSW, local fire crews are in the dark about what the fires there are doing.
He complained that he would give communications between the NSW -Rural Fire Service and local firefighters about two out of ten marks.
However, communications with the media were excellent he said angrily.
"Fire crews are being forced to listen to ABC radio to find out what bushfire threats their farms are facing."

CONCERNED AUSTRALIANS
This arrived at SOS-NEWS today, I feel sure many of you will know the author and his work to keep government hands off our Australia
I have sent the following letter to Premier Peter Beattie of Queensland, and Premier Morris lemma of NSW, South Australian Premier Mike Rann
Dear Premier'
I do hope you will not permit Messrs Howard and Turnbull to get away with their outrageous demand that the States refer their constitutional power over water to Canberra. Such demands are usually made under duress and crisis propaganda, and aim to get round the Constitution.
In 1942 the war-time Attorney-General, Dr H.V. Evatt, tried to persuade the States to hand over a number of powers to Canberra under the pretext of the wartime emergency.
Every State agreed with the exception of Tasmania, where the Upper House, led by a famous Australian, former Test Cricket captain Joe Darling, told Evatt to "go home and hold a constitutional referendum under Section 128", which had been included expressly for such a purpose. This Evatt did NOT want to do. But, because of Tasmania's adamancy, finally had to hold the "14 Powers Referendum' in 1944. Everywhere, Australians voted "No", with the biggest vote of all in Tasmania.
What about taking such a stand on behalf of the Australian people?

CATTLE FODDER FEEDS FIRES
Fires are destroying cattle feed we might have had according to grazier Noeline Franklin.
"It's feed we asked for in the Kosciuszko National Park," she said angrily.
Graziers traditionally used the park when times were tough.
Their rights to gaze have slowly shrunk to total bans on grazing in national parks.
"Now the fires have escaped containment lines and threaten our properties.
"If they get to the Cotter Area, west of Canberra, it will tear across Canberra with a westerly behind it."
Bush to the capital's west is full of dead Alpine Ash and a serious threat to the nation's capital.
Forests of dead trees have never before come into an equation of fuel loads, so no one can give an estimate of the exact risks posed.
All agree that the risks far exceed the usual ones posed by fallen leaf litter. Burning dead trees will produce far more heat.
TANKS A BILLION
With water being spun as the big issue of the elections to cover the exorbitant failings of the bankrupt Carr/Iemma incumbent government, one would think that Iemma and his team would actually bring forth some serious plan of action.
1.2 billion tax dollars ($1,200,000,000.00) to be disseminated amongst the corporate pariahs to provide just a 7% increase in the water supply to Sydney, with the ongoing cost to you the taxpayer yet to be defined. You have gotta be joking.
Water usage is a problem that transcends any drought, even the serious one we are in at the moment, but the real problem exists because of the down stream users by the million in the cities. Cities, eastern seaboard mass population, a place where there is enough coastal rainfall to supply their entire needs, but is allowed to flow into the oceans untouched.
SOS-NEWS put a plan forward months ago, yet this has been ignored, but once again needs revisiting.
The State and Federal Governments need to fund our plan with our dollars they’re about to give to their corporate masters.
Simply provide the funds up front for Australian built water tanks, installed by Australian businesses, to be available to any legal land owner to the tune of 100% of the cost of providing and installing such infrastructure. Recoup the allocated funds back from the Landowners through a variable amortisation program contained within the annual rates.
Stop the theft of people’s disposable funds by charging them a rateable fee whether they use water at an address, or not and make all water payable from the very first litre drawn through the reticulation system and thereby the savings would encourage all those with tanks to use the water they catch way in advance to any reticulated supply usage.
If this plan causes private water corporations to divest or fold, so be it, for the governments can reclaim the infrastructure at fire sale prices, that once belonged to the State and still should, whilst replacing water ownership back into the citizen’s hands instead of global corporate dictator’s. As for the possible losses of the investors who gambled on their own fellow citizens miseries, it was exactly that a gamble, just like the poky machines that strip the wealth of the lower socio-economic in our society.
SOS-NEWS research shows that as long as citizens are obligated to pay for water whether it is used or not, such as we are now conditioned to do, there is absolutely no incentive to use tank water until such time as excess water rates start to take effect. This makes a mockery of tank installation and requires sound legislation to cap reticulated water prices from the first reticulated litre drawn and would not only incite all to install tanks, but also use the tank water first and foremost.
As the program rolled out and the funds were recouped, everybody becomes a winner from the environment to our water supplies, with the current corporate water barons raking in million dollar profits, being flushed into the sea.
It’s simple, swift, effective, practical, environmentally sound and most of all, bloody near free and is applicable to industrial premises as it is to the private residence.
We might add, that this is the only plan as yet publicly espoused that actually delivers an actual increased water supply, even in the current drought climate, with that increase growing with every tank that is commissioned and additionally adds incentive to use both install a tank and use the harvested water.
2 Million rooves, (commercial and residential) averaged at 5,000lt per roof for every rain storm in Sydney alone, equates to an increase of 10 (US) billion litres of extra water. This is 10 Gigalitres of new, extra water after every reasonable rainstorm, of which, happens frequently in 90% of coastal Australia.
GL stands for Gigalitre & one GL = 1000 Megalitres, with one ML being one million litres. N.B. English Billion = 1,000,000,000,000, where as a US Billion = 1,000,000,000.

TURNBULL’S EUREKA!
Why is it that the media is so slow to identify for the public, the fly in the Turnbull ointment. The matter of water regulation and legislation was clearly and concisely considered at the time of federation. Thank god for lateral and forward thinking ancestors of this great nation Australia, now being destroyed by political greed and corruption.
John Howard, our illustrious Liberal Federal leader, thinks he has duped the public into believing that by appointing Malcolm Turnbull (pictured) to the most powerful portfolio the citizens of this Nation have ever seen, the Federal government is being constructively pro-active on the serious water issues that face this continent.
Bunkum!!!! He has appointed a multi-millionaire, global, corporate-lackey that has aspirations of this great nation becoming a Republic, into a position that will spell the demise of Australia as we know it, if we let them.
So lets cut to the chase.
Turnbull, as his position allows, will attempt to coerce, bribe and badger the states to comply with his legislative changes to both the environment and the water issues of Australia. Do not for one minute believe that this multi-million dollar baron has you the joe-blo citizen’s welfare at heart. He has to have an agenda, for no such person with only power left to be achieved in his life, would ever accept a minuscule salaried position of public vilification, in place of corporate largess. Add to this the leader of the Republican movement and we now have a window into the Turnbull future and the view is not a very pretty one at all.
We note that Turnbull is immensely wealthy. He is a major player in the business world of this Nation, which means that allegiances and agendas are part of his daily life. A man with immense wealth has only immense power left to seek and in one stroke of the Prime Minister’s pen, this man is offered and accepts the most important portfolio in Federal Government, The Environment portfolio. Add to this golden chalice sought by many, is the sweetener by the PM of the Oil of the future, control of the nation’s future water supplies.
Why would such a wealthy successful businessman consider such a lowly paid, yet prestigious position?
Because he is being groomed for the position of Prime Minister and Mr Costello should be very concerned indeed.
To the fly in the ointment.
To take control of Nation’s water supply requires new legislation and regulations to come into force and to do this they require the States to agree to any changes and relinquish their State sovereignty over such assets.
What has not been conveyed in the mainstream media, which is conspicuous by its absence, is the wording of section 100 of the Federal Constitution.
100 Nor abridge right to use water
The Commonwealth shall not, by any law or regulation of trade or commerce, abridge the right of a State or of the residents therein to the reasonable use of the waters of rivers for conservation or irrigation.
Section 100 clearly indicates that not only did the fore fathers of this Nation perceive the risks to the citizens of such actions as touted by the Turnbull clan - to claim and legislate the waters of the Murray basin in the first instance, then nation wide once the former is achieved - but concisely noted who would be disaffected by such actions and thereby constitutionally protected them futuristically as best they could.
It may take a high court challenge to the Turnbull/Howard desires, but the States require the citizens of so affected States to speak by referendum to allow such changes to have legal effect and anything to the contrary, is another serious nail in our dying democracy and our already bastardised constitution.
Those with an agenda, with their eye on the ownership of this Nation’s wealth, not just the oil of the future (WATER), know this only too well and already we see the slight under-current of a new Republican push, a push that was soundly trounced by the people at a most recent and expensive referendum of this Nation’s citizens.
This does not deter those with their eye on owning you, your wealth and your Nation:
- First, they work their magic spin that glosses over to the masses not immediately affected, the benefits of taking over JUST the Murray basin.
- Second, they get Turnbull into a position of immense power, preferably as the Prime Minster.
- Third, they back a growing, refreshed and concerted push for a Republic with a current Federal Government consensus to become such.
- Fourth, once the people are tricked into becoming a Republic, the constitution that has protected us for so long has to be re-written and at that time, it is check mate, game over, apart from those at the top, along with the minority that live with their snout in the trough, this country as we know it is buggered and the masses of joe-blo’s will be peasants to a corporate dictatorship that only a bullet firing revolution will remove.
Already many legal documents depict many people as LANDHOLDERS not LANDOWNERS. Soon we will all just be deemed, CONDONED SQUATTERS.

NEW ELEMENT FOUND!
The recent hurricane and gasoline issues helped prove existence of a new element. In early October, 2005, a major research institution announced
discovery of the heaviest element yet known to science. The new element has been named "Governmentium". Governmentium (Gv) has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.
These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton like particles called peons. Since
Gv has no electrons, it is inert. However, it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A minute amount of
Gv causes one reaction to take over four days to complete, when it would normally take less than a second.
Gv has a normal half-life of 4 years; it does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and
deputy neutrons exchange places. In fact, Governmentium's mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more
morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes.
This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to believe that Gv is formed whenever morons reach a certain quantity in
concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as Critical Morass. When catalyzed with money, Gv becomes Administratium (Am) - an
element which radiates just as much energy as Gv since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons.

Rampant NSW tree clearing 'a fiction'

Claims by extremist green groups that more than 100,000 hectares of bushland are being illegally cleared in NSW each year have been shot to pieces by two NSW Government reports released today.
A native vegetation ‘report card’ for the first six months of last year, and a two-year report on woody vegetation change make a mockery of campaigns by groups like The Wilderness Society, the Nature Conservation Council and WWF.
They like to claim NSW farmers are illegally clearing at a rate of up to six Sydney Cricket Grounds an hour.
The reports reveal such claims couldn’t be farther from the truth.
The reports find that between 2004 and 2006 only 0.04pc of the area of NSW had recorded vegetation change.
Compiled, using Landsat technology developed for the Queensland Government, the reports show vegetation changes or clearing for forestry, major infrastructure, fire scars, cropping, pastures and thinning, amount to 31,294ha.
The cropping, pasture and thinning figures totalled 16,090ha or about 51pc of the total - said to represent both legally and illegally cleared vegetation.
The report also reveals that in stark contrast, more than 333,000ha of native vegetation was conserved, restored or managed, primarily by farmers, in just the first six months of 2006.
The NSW Minister for Natural Resources, Ian Macdonald, says the figures were ‘a far cry’ from the 100,000ha of illegal clearing claimed by The Wilderness Society.
