My Say

Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) conference in Sydney is about to get underway with security Australians have not seen on their home soil.

It is also the time we see conducted political polls tilted well in favour of the Labor Party just weeks out from the Federal Election.

Interesting is that PM John Howard, a tactician of merit with a track record, has not started to reel in the rope to counteract the tilt.

His terms in office have been blessed at the previous three elections, by public deflection moves from polls and opposition attack with such issues as, "Children Overboard" - "The Gulf War" - "The Boat People Invasion.

Do not be surprised if - "A Perfect Election Caper" (APEC) emerges like the phoenix from the fire with another deflection on the voters.

This could only be counter attacked by Kevin Rudd, announcing that the Labor party is removing all allegiance to the Trade Unions, expelling them from party membership, and return democracy to the people - OR - the Greens making a binding commitment they will in future, "Tell The Truth"

With baited breath we await the moves afoot.

Malaysia considers switch to Islamic law

Mohammad rides into Malaysia with hardline Islamic law that looks to be introduced across that country under reforms proposed by the country's chief justice.

As the nation in south-east Asia celebrated 50 years of independence from Britain yesterday, its government was preparing to discuss a plan that would revolutionise the legal system put in place by its former colonial administrators.

As Kuala Lumpur witnessed celebrations that included parades, fireworks and a fighter-jet fly-by attended by Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, the proposal pointed to the deep differences which locals say are poisoning social relations beyond the glitter and skyscrapers of Malaysia's modern capital city.

Ahmad Fairuz, the chief justice, told an Islamic conference in Kuala Lumpur that 50 years of independence had failed to free Malaysia from the "clutches of colonialism". Sharia law should be "infused" into the gaps created by abolishing common law, he said.

If you has misgivings that Islam is not on it's agenda to dominate the world, this is a good place to start reviewing the "March of Mohammad".

Cattle Killer Not Ready

To keep you up to speed with the RSPCA prosecution of 71 year old Ruth Downey, at Narrabri NSW, appeared to take a turn, that was most predictable, with a possible result of forcing up defence costs.

The alleged executioner of her cattle, acting under the RSPCA banner, wasa reported as not having his case prepared, hence and adjournment was required.

Massive support from placard waving supporters of Ruth Downey, were not disappointed to see the surprise on the faces of the entourage of the RSPCA and DPI Beef Officer.

Act II, scene II, will be on the 23rd October, again at Narrabri, and if they thought the contingent of Ruth's supporters was encouraging last time, wait until October.

While this matter is continuing in the court, our little birds keep feeding SOS-NEWS information that cannot be dismissed.

CHRISTIANITY GROWING FAST IN RED CHINA

"The World Christian Database offers by far the largest estimate of the number of Chinese Christians at 111 million, of whom 90% are Protestant, mostly Pentecostals. "

Ten thousand Chinese become Christians each day, according to a stunning report by the National Catholic Reporter's veteran correspondent John Allen, and 200 million Chinese may comprise the world's largest concentration of Christians by mid-century, and the largest missionary force in history.

I suspect that even the most enthusiastic accounts err on the downside, and that Christianity will have become a Sino-centric religion two generations from now. China may be for the 21st century what Europe was during the 8th-11th centuries, and America has been during the past 200 years: the natural ground for mass evangelization. Islam might defeat the western Europeans, simply by replacing their diminishing numbers with immigrants, but it will crumble beneath the challenge from the East.

China, devoured by hunger so many times in its history, now feels a spiritual hunger beneath the neon exterior of its suddenly great cities. Four hundred million Chinese on the prosperous coast have moved from poverty to affluence in a single generation, and 10 million to 15 million new migrants come from the countryside each year, the greatest movement of people in history.

Despite a government stance that hovers somewhere between discouragement and persecution, more than 100 million of them have embraced a faith that regards this life as mere preparation for the next world. Given the immense effort the Chinese have devoted to achieving a tolerable life in the present world, this may seem anomalous. On the contrary: it is the great migration of peoples that prepares the ground for Christianity, just as it did during the barbarian invasions of Europe during the Middle Ages.

Last month's murder of reverend Bae Hyung-kyu, the leader of the missionaries still held hostage by Taliban kidnappers in Afghanistan, drew world attention to the work of South Korean Christians, who make up nearly 30% of that nation's population and send more evangelists to the world than any country except the United States. This is only a first tremor of the earthquake to come, as Chinese Christians turn their attention outward. Years ago I speculated that if Mecca ever is razed, it will be by an African army marching north; now the greatest danger to Islam is the prospect of a Chinese army marching west.

People do not live in a spiritual vacuum; where a spiritual vacuum exists, as in western Europe and the former Soviet Empire, people simply die, or fail to breed. In the traditional world, people see themselves as part of nature, constantly unchangeable, and worship their surroundings, their ancestors, and themselves. When war or economics tear people away from their roots in traditional life, what once appeared constant now is shown to be ephemeral. Christianity is the great liquidator of traditional society, calling individuals out of their tribes and nations to join the ekklesia, which transcends race and nation.

And They Take Coroner Doogan Back to Court in Nov

Coroner Maria Doogan (pictured), Stanhope and his Cronies may wish to see you fried like the ACT in 2003, but we the people, love you dearly.

When is a monkey a chump? When he is in charge of your tax dollars, and only accountable in a protected forum such as a quassi parliamentary set-up called, the ACT Council Chambers.

With the pending 2007/08 fire season about to come upon all, this government attempts to lay blame for their own stupendous inadequacies on the people they usurped and an organisation they rebadged, in an effort to stymie well deserved public condemnation.

Coroner Doogan clearly indicated in her most sound and comprehensive analysis of the 2003 BBQ one has when they are not having a traumatic once in greenie fed wildfire, a number of people to be taken aboard the re-establishment of an effective ESA restructuring, a recommendation that had from Mayor Stanhope down, reeling with surprised indignation, albeit a recommendation that was without peer. Recommendations such as Val Jeffreys and a number of HIS experienced peers being crucial appointments to this essential restructuring, without which, the ESA was a doomed duck guaranteed to repeat past failures.

Well there hasn't even arisen a fire and here we see failure. A failure possibly so great that the ACT and the bordering NSW terrain may well experience the futility of volunteers being led from helicopter platforms that can't see through the smoke and hence instructions and information is relayed once again that leads to incredible errors of judgement, decision and direction, that inturn provides us all with another holocaustic fire show in an attempt to upstage Greece.

The saving grace here is the drought has stunted the replanted few pines, drained the Murrumbidgee river of water, allowed the rural citizens of the ACT time to replace burnt out fencing with steel posts and most of important of all, due to cheap level playing field importation of Chinese equipment, buy fire fighting equipment that negates the need of the ESA at all.

Read below the political claptrap from the Mayor's fiefdom of intransigent rhetoric, the ACT house of chimpdom.

Brumbyy (with2Ys)

Minister for Police and Emergency Services Simon Corbell has today welcomed the tabling of the Auditor-General's report into the procurement and ongoing management of the Firelink project by the former ACT Emergency Services Authority.

"Like the earlier assessments undertaken by the Department of Justice and Community Safety (JACS) and the ESA Commissioner since the former Authority came into the Departmental structure in July 2006, the Auditor-General has identified a raft of issues over the purchase of the Firelink project, its implementation and ongoing management," he said.

The Auditor-General's findings included:
  • There was no business case prepared by the former Authority to support the FireLink project. There was no cost-benefit analysis of FireLink against alternative solutions;
  • The former Authority identified a product that was still in a developmental stage and then developed an accelerated single select procurement process around it despite other products being on the market that should have been evaluated;
  • The procurement process failed to demonstrate clearly that the project would achieve a value for money outcome for the Territory;
  • The $94,000 four-month trial lasted for only eight days, achieving less than 80% of set criteria, but was deemed a success by the former Authority;
  • The former Authority did not follow the ACT Public Sector Management Standards and guidelines to ensure that the principles of merit and procedural fairness were adopted in the employment of temporary contracted staff to lead the new ICT projects, including the FireLink Project;
  • The former Authority failed to act on the formal advice of the ACT Government Solicitor and Procurement Board;
  • The Audit identifies the former Authority paying some $594,000 for a specific ICT project management consultant and despite this the project management failed at all levels;
  • The FireLink project had exceeded budgeted cost and timeframes and the system had not achieved a number of the objectives stated in the procurement plan when Firelink was withdrawn from service last month; and,
  • Of the ten software upgrades requested by ATI during the past 12 months, six were implemented, two partially implemented and two were rejected by the ESA. Of the two rejected one was because the request was not consistent with the contractual requirements and the second because the fault to be addressed was not fully understood and was to be subject to further monitoring.
"The Government welcomes the Auditor-General's report and recommendations," Mr Corbell said.

"It provides significant further confirmation of the outcomes of two independent expert reviews. The Auditor-General's findings vindicate the actions taken by the ESA Commissioner to withdraw Firelink and reinforces the Government's actions in reinstating the Agency status.

"JACS and the ESA have already instituted major reform in the ICT governance and project management systems in the Agency to ensure that similar episodes of this nature are not repeated and public money is not further wasted at the expense of frontline service activities.

"This Audit identifies a fundamental failure at the highest level of the former Authority which has now cost ACT taxpayers $4.5 million dollars which could have been spent on the delivery of frontline services for ESA staff and volunteers.

"I must refute former Commissioner Dunn's suggestions in his reply to the Auditor that there is no debate that the system works. Commissioner Manson, supported now by two expert reviews and the Auditor's report, has made it quite clear that FireIink does not do what it was intended to do. I am also disappointed that Mr Dunn relates a complete factual error, regularly promulgated by ATI, that the CAD system failed during the Canberra hailstorm. It is simply not true.

"The ESA has meanwhile been considering a range of options to further improve the reliability of vehicle location and messaging for the ACT Rural Fire Service and ACT State Emergency Service vehicles outside of the current effective radio networks. These include expanding the long term existing and very effective Mobile Data Terminals currently used by the ACT Ambulance Service and ACT Fire Brigade. ESA will implement the best option as soon as practicable.

"The public should be reassured that the Territory is no worse off for having withdrawn Firelink as it never provided the service that was envisaged and we can still rely on the existing radio system, manual CAD updating and forward radio relay vehicles in remote areas until more alternate systems come online.'

Green Saboteurs Hit Power Plant

Michaela StubbsIn the early hours of Monday September 3rd, a group of four Green saboteurs led by Friends of the Earth activist Michaela Stubbs (pictured), cut their way through the fence of the Loy Yang power station in the Latrobe Valley , Victoria, and sabotaged two conveyors causing an immediate shut down.

The power station with one generator not available for use was forced to halve its electricity production. Management later advised a loss in production of "hundreds of thousands of dollars", however, other generators were available in the area and Melbourne suffered no loss of power.

Victoria Police were called in to cut the four protesters free from the conveyor belts and they were later charged. No doubt, in the fullness of time they will appear before a magistrate who will admonish them to be good children in the future.

Green activist, champion of alternative power sources, member of the Friends of the Earth and an active opponent of nuclear power, Michaela Stubbs, very easily contactable on telephones 0429 136 935 or land line 9419 8700 was interviewed by ABC Radio Sale. Well known Green supporter Gerard Callinan allowed Michaela Stubbs free rein to give her message. In previous times, her ravings would have been described as repetitious and "you know" boring, "you know" being her often repeated punctuation.

ABC Radio in Melbourne also picked up this act of terrorism and they, through Jon Faine, also gave this suburban terrorist the freedom of the airwaves to get her "you know" message across.

On the whole this rather "you know" stupid juvenile prank achieved its objective of allowing this naive Green activist to "you know' get her message across without anything more than a token hindrance by ABC Radio.

Those of us who "you know" have studied the Great Global Warming Swindle DVD will recognise this group as, "you know" one of the anti everything brigade who would like us all to return to the days when we were covered with woad.

Sydney Deputy Mayor

The Deputy Lord Mayor, Chris Harris (pictured as he wished to be presented to the world), from the Greens, has called on councillors to support his motion calling for such a banner, to take a stand against crackdowns on protest at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum next month.

"As a city councillor, I am appalled that we are allowing our government to gate off our city from the people who live, work and pay rates here," he said.

"That we would spend $600,000 on a water cannon to be used against our citizens should they exercise their democratic right to demonstrate.

"That we have converted 31 State Transit buses into mobile holding cells, and that during the APEC summit it will cost the city of Sydney hundreds of millions of dollars in lost economic activity that we will never recover.

"While I agree that we should do all we can to protect visiting leaders, it should never be at the expense of the community's democratic rights or the economic wellbeing of our businesses and workers."

In case you don't quite believe it, the above is from the Deputy Lord Mayor of Sydney - Australia's largest city.

Chris Harris is typical of "Green Think" in that he complains bitterly about monies spent on protecting those attending the APEC conference. The hypocrisy is well demonstrated when one examines news footage of virtually any demonstration of any size in Australia.

Right up with other violent demonstrators from Socialist Left, GreenPeace, MUA and more are the usual rabble from The Greens.

Is this the real Chris Harris at the Gay Mardi-Gras - a pillar of our society?

GREENPEACE 30 Years Old

Thirty years on since GreenPeace took to the whaling industry in Albany, Western Australia, 28th August, 1977 as they cruise the oceans with a life of Riley paid for by the public donations.

Preventing climate change, stopping deforestation, reducing overfishing, keeping genetically engineered food out of Australia and a toxic free world, is all the hype these radicals present to the gullible.

Remember the Rainbow Warrior in Auckland Harbour 10 July 1985 after bombing by French secret service agents.

How about the well known antics by these fools in this picture, climbing the ships anchor chain … very smart move.

If you find it difficult getting a job, contact GreenPeace for a life on the ocean waves and get paid for it.
