Back Door legislation

Reported to SOS-NEWS was an interview on ABC radio today that involved none other than Jeff Angel (pictured), first class radical green Executive Director of the Total Environmental Centre, phone 02 9299 5680 Email: jeff.angel@tec.org.au website: www.tec.org.au - and is located at level 2, 362 Kent St, Sydney 2000.

Angel was heard to say that he knew nothing of a secret meeting on Friday with the minister took place, when asked the question.

It was also suggested that legislation concerning logging on PRIVATE LAND HOLDING is subject to new legislation coming into force tomorrow, Wednesday 1st August that gives the GREEN light to locking up your farms even further than the unworkable vegetation laws have all but shut down farming in Australia.

It was suggested that this allows the Green driven government a virtual defacto Nation Park of all farmers land.

A total; shock to many farmers, still thinking this is still under discussion with Minister Koperberg (pictured). But now again this well known person of deception has forged ahead like any good puppet would do, and before the non-green myth management challenge exposes their radical factual fractures.

Keep in mind this Total Environment Centre and many others, are a tax deductible, public funded (or so they say) with no government dollars organisation. They are under a constitution as an incorporated body, just like your kids cricket club is, and has about the same amount of clout in a real true democracy, but under the Greens preference vote allocation scheme, gutless governments like NSW Maurice Iemma labor will dance and legislate to any green suggestions.

Angel has a track record of harassing farmers with his mouth and media statements which have never been presented to him on a courtroom platter. But this will very soon change as his personal vulnerability, along with others, unfolds as not being government guarded in litigation, they have nowhere to hide.

The ABC presenter is reported as saying, "it is like making a de-facto National Parks out of private land.

MORE BACK DOOR GREEN MINISTER MANIPULATION

A public meeting held at Durras hall at 5 pm Monday 30th July, with the NSW Fisheries & Department of Primary Industries went ahead as scheduled.

A good attendance by concerned residents reflected the interest in the South Coast Marine Park, which these people had been informed at the previous meeting with the Federal Greens member, was set up as a political issue totally

Conspicuous by their absence at this meeting were the floundering local RADICAL GREENIES - not one was present in the hall… WHY?

It was discovered that they had already held a COVERT MEETING with these officials for more than 1 hour, and at a Radicals Residence no less.

Not only are they on the run as pure substantiated facts destroy their fiction stories, which the Iemma NSW government, and Minister Koperberg, thrive on, but raises very serious concern that collusion has taken place prior to the public meeting which need investigation.

We must assume that these people have an open GREEN door to the pipeline that is now closed which once constituted public access to government and ministers when we were a democracy.

The fact that these MINORITY groups have this power over (our) government is not only unbelievable, but bloody well illegal under the Federal Crimes Act.

The main reason this particular Greenie group did not attend this very peoples meeting, is that they are simply gutless and not willing to voice there radical views in public.

With the NSW Radical Green government main supporters, you may lay "London to a Brick" that this mobs myth-management will become law - like bloody clockwork.

Inquiries over the past 12 months have revealed, from sources within the halls of power, allegations that most submissions are vetted to suit a certain agenda.

One such vetting is presently under inquiry from a concerned group. Allegations of dumping unopened submissions, still in their envelopes, with the TO and the FROM addresses attached. It is little things like document dumping security that brings them undone every time, not to mention photographs that say a 1000 words.

We spoke with Jack Tait, president of the NSW Costal Rights Association, who confirmed that the known greenies were not present at the Durras Hall 5 pm meeting, and a reliable little bird had observed the subject missing greens, plus the officials, at a Coastal Watch (a greenie organisation on the south coast) leaders home.

Names we have, but are withholding at present pending further information, and other things in the pipeline.

Australia's New Produce Suppliers

The Jeff Angles and current governments, who are hell bent on closing down the bush, forcing the demise of our farmers until the produce stops, then the only alternative is to import.

Now what a good idea for the government corporate masters, they will regulate the supermarkets, hosting who knows in what conditions the packing and farming produce has been subjected to, but you may be assured it will never be under the strict regulations our fading Australian producers are subjected too.

Here are few pictures of what you may expect very soon as our farmers go to the wall at the rate of ten a week, and rising, from unworkable laws and radical green harassment.

WATER WATCH

Dear Editor

The corporatisation of Snowy Hydro effectively reduced the broader Australian public ownership of the Snowy Scheme to three 'shareholders.' Under the Snowy legislation there are specific targets for water savings and return of environment flows to the Snowy River yet these shareholders including the Commonwealth have failed to deliver, even though those flow targets are legislated. At the same time, the pre-emptive prerogative of Snowy Hydro to earn high end energy dollars to support the perception that the Scheme is an 'insurance derivatives' business robs all water users of equity and justice. The MDBC must resolve water sharing including extraction from the Darling River and its rivers, impacting on 'savings' in the Murray. This continues to be an essential prerequisite to return environmental flows to the Snowy. The Australian Constitution does clearly spell out that we the Australian people do own our water and have 'reasonable' rights to that water along with the environment and irrigators. Arguably, the Snowy legislation is counter constitutional in that it demands compensation for environmental flows, already protected as a natural right under Section 100.

I trust that your readers fully realise that the water privatisation agenda - rejected by the majority of the world - is on the table for Australia, the first step being Commonwealth control of the Murray Darling Basin and under the terms of the Constitution, undoubtedly invoking corporations law thereby necessitating a corporate entity to control the Murray Darling. This was the pathway used to attempt to flog off the Snowy Scheme.

Senator Joyce must continue to act with integrity and not allowed himself to be used as a dummy red flag by the Federal Liberal Party pretending to object to the Murray Darling plan only to 'find resolution'.

31st July 2007

The Hon. Malcolm Turnbull
Federal Minister for Environment and Water Resources
Parliament House
CANBERRA, ACT, 2600

Dear Minister

re: Murray Darling Basin, Public Ownership and Management of Water, Sustainable Water Management

Australia is now under the spotlight of the international community with recent political developments and Commonwealth intervention over the Murray Darling Basin. Similarly, the global community is closely monitoring the water privatisation trends in Australian including construction of desalination plants, rejected by many other communities.

Water justice issues affect us all wherever we live internationally and our experience is that water must remain in the public domain.

Minister Turnbull, you are aware that the demise of the Murray Darling system is primarily man made including:

  • salination of formerly productive land
  • loss of agricultural productivity and impact on regional communities
  • competition between producers for water supplies exacerbated by enduring drought and potentially, significant climate change
  • failure of irrigation infrastructure
  • over-allocation of irrigation licences
  • lack of environmental water that naturally belongs to the environment including wetlands and riparian systems
  • cross-catchment water transfers
  • establishment and legitimisation of water trading and water markets
  • potential or actual corporatisation of water management authorities including the Snowy Scheme and MDBC or equivalent
  • potential privatisation of public water resources and water utilities including Snowy Hydro and the MDBC or equivalent
  • political influence impacting upon critical water sharing issues and decision making particularly close to State or Federal election
  • inevitable rise in the price of water under privatisation regime impacting especially, on lower income farms and families.

Whilst there is a place for private investment in water infrastructure and at times, public-private partnerships, our understanding is water is a public issue and must remain in the public domain for reasons of water justice, equity and long-term assurances of enduring quality and supply.

The Murray Darling Basin is a case in point and will be better managed by a non-political, non-privatised statutory authority.

Around the world there are a myriad of examples where communities now strive to return once public water and water utilities to public hands. The privatisation of water experiment - the last of the global commons - has failed. There are winners and losers and the people and their natural environment are usually the losers.

I urge you Minister to reconsider the intent of the Australian Commonwealth Government to seize control over the Murray Darling Basin and instead, return water management and sharing to the public domain, enabling smaller catchment, tributary and river communities the power and right to make decisions in regard to their water management. The demands upon the Snowy Scheme to provide water for irrigation and conservation are significant and the sudden focus since the corporatisation of the Scheme on energy generation is counterintuitive to wise water management.

I therefore urge you to consider the pending water legislation including:

Community Independence, Experience & Leadership on Water Management Decisions

  • retention of existing Murray Darling Community Advisory Committee and formal engagement and equal decision making role and power
  • immediate formation of legitimate Snowy Community Advisory Committee to match the MDCAC, drawing from existing Snowy River community advocates
  • independence of chairs of both Committees
  • independence of existed and / or projected Murray Darling Basin authority including freedom from ministerial oversight / discretion / intervention
  • strong and coherent protection of the Ramsar wetlands and adherence to international treaties
  • legislative protection of the Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder to adequately perform functions free from State strictures
  • clear targets for environmental water recovery free from encumbrances of compensation in accord to 'reasonable' rights of the environment to water under the provisions of Section 100 of the Australian Constitution
  • clearly articulated and legislated timelines and targets for the preparation of the first Basin Plan including delivery of environmental water
  • integration of the Snowy catchments and existing catchment plans and legislation within the Murray Darling Basin legislation and water plans
  • attention to overdue legislated environmental flows to the Snowy River
  • separation of environmental flows for the Snowy from 'savings' in the Murray system including compensation payments
  • attention to 'compensation' clauses in the Snowy Hydro legislation that appear to be contra-Section 100 Australian constitution
  • immediate restoration of the Mowamba River as interim headwater for the Snowy River through decommissioning the Mowamba Aqueduct
  • legislated energy market niche for the Snowy Scheme to generate sufficient 'maintenance' income for the Scheme and reduce the top-end energy sales / insurance derivatives role of Snowy Hydro with its potential impact on sober water management
  • focus on energy efficiency at the household level to reduce peak and baseload domestic energy consumption
  • caution on annual extraction levels including sustainable diversion limit as a percentage of mean annual water flows to avoid over allocation to secure
  • freedom of information and transparency of allocation of irrigation and water licences including third party review where necessary
  • open and broad public consultation at the tributary level to achieve wholistic catchment protection and management
  • integration of existing water partners and plans including for water quality, salinity and environmental water
  • caps on floodplain water harvesting
  • transparency of investment partners for modernising irrigation infrastructure including their relationship to existing water companies
Yours respectfully,
Acacia Rose

Government Management - FIRE then FLOOD

Reliable sources in Gippsland, based in the Macalister River Valley, advise that, having sought legal advice, they are considering their future course of action.

Numbers of residents, having been brought to the brink of both physical and financial ruin by six months of feral fires, followed by mud slides and the greatest floods in living memory, are basing their class action on the following facts; Since 1982, Governments of Victoria have consistently under budgeted for land management practices. Faced with declining finances the Land Managers have sought 'short cuts' such as totally ignoring wilderness areas.

They have also abandoned fuel reduction burning except where there has been a demonstrated need around human habitation.

Done very little physical work to eradicate pest plants and feral animals, except where this action meets with the approval of the public. In other words, if good PR can be made out of it, it is financed.

They have worked diligently to eliminate workers from the forests. Timber, cattle and Government workers. Even Apiarists are having a very hard time due to Government action in keeping them out and inaction in that they are not managing fuels, plants and feral animals. Government records for 1982 and 2005, when compared demonstrate a deficiency of 500 workers in rural and regional Victoria.

Governments have neglected their Duty of Care to the animal life of the Victorian Alps in that they have allowed fuels to accumulate to the extent that across some two and a half million hectares of Victoria, native animal life no longer exists.

Notable ornithologist Bill Middleton of Barwon Heads estimates, from his pre 2003 research and post 2003 results, that a minimum 5 million birds have been incinerated.

Governments, in heeding advice to "Lock Up Our Forests and Leave Them" by a dominant minority section of our community have ignored the effect that fire intensity has on the earth. Hydrophobia is rife across natural areas of Victoria. Erosion of hundreds of hectares of land means they are sterile.

They have overlooked the propensity for natural earth to soak up rain and instead their neglectful philosophies have made soils hydrophobic with the tragic consequences seen recently in the Macalister River Valley. One well known caravan park has suffered $800,000 of loss and damage. This does not include a loss of income over the next year. There are no prizes for guessing who they blame.

Before the fires of 2006 and 2007 there have been many times when rainfall of 100mm to 150 mm have been absorbed naturally. Indeed, as one correspondent pointed out, this year, in the Thomson River Catchment, where fire has been excluded to preserve Melbourne's city water supply, heavy rainfalls had only improved the quantity of water in the reservoir by about 5% - without any damaging torrents of water.

Governmental fire authorities have planned for summer fires with the thought that humans can throw more and more technology into the fire fight. In 2006 2007 this didn't work. On many days aircraft could not take off for smoke. Imported fire fighters ended up in hospital and our own seasoned experienced fire fighters were left with a losing battle until the weather changed. It was fortuitous weather changes rather than mans capacity for new inventions that finally put the fires out.

Residents are not questioning Melbourne's need for water but they are looking at the differences in land management practices where Melbourne is affected and the alternative, where country folk are not only neglected but they are held up to ridicule by city-centric administrators who, armed with a university degree but little else, dictate the terms of management in rural areas.

Dear Editor, to put it very bluntly, country folk who have an affinity with the land in whatever capacity, are feeling that the time has come for the city bound decision makers to put up - or shut up.

If this has to be done legally rather than in a friendly country folk way, so be it.

John Cribbes.

Was Bracks forced to resign?

The sudden resignation of Steve Bracks, Premier of the Australian state of Victoria, on July 27, came immediately after he declared how Victoria would fight Prime Minister John Howard's 'grab for control of all water supplies' in the Murray-Darling Basin, the 'breadbasket' of Australia.

Bracks charged: Howard secretly planned to grab the water in order to sell it off: "They'll seek to privatise it, to get private capital in, to do what happens in parts of NSW, where you see private investment, private ownership of irrigators".

He said the federal Resources Minister and merchant banker Malcolm Turnbull had privately told him as much.

Caught red-handed, an enraged Howard squealed : "… Bracks' charge was desperate, stupid, inaccurate and just totally wrong".

Bracks was right. But the game is far bigger than even the tens of billions of dollars in water privatisations which he hinted at. Trillions of dollars of "assets" in the global financial system are now vaporising, with the recent billions of dollars of losses by Bear Sterns and the Basis Capital and Absolute Capital hedge funds just the tip of the iceberg.

American Democratic Party leader and physical economist Lyndon H. LaRouche, Jr. described the process in his July 25 international webcast: "First of all, the world monetary financial system is actually now currently in the process of disintegrating.

There's nothing mysterious about this; I've talked about it for some time, it's been in progress, it's not abating… What's listed as stock values and market values in the financial markets internationally is bunk! These are purely fictitious beliefs. There's no truth to it; the fakery is enormous.

There is no possibility of a non-collapse of the present financial system-none! It's finished, now!

The present financial system can not continue to exist under any circumstances, under any Presidency, under any leadership, or any leadership of nations.

Only a fundamental and sudden change in the world monetary financial system will prevent a general, immediate chain-reaction type of collapse.

At what speed we don't know, but it will go on, and it will be unstoppable! And the longer it goes on before coming to an end, the worse things will get".

In these circumstances, with its paper money empire melting by the minute, the financial oligarchy which owns Howard and most other politicians, is desperate to grab whatever real resources it can, including control over air (via the "global warming" scam), raw materials and water rights, in order to loot populations to the bone.

Bracks' decision to fight Howard's national water grab put tens of billions of dollars in the planned "water rights" scam into immediate jeopardy.

Then, suddenly, Bracks and his Deputy Premier and Victoria State Water Minister, John Thwaites resigned.

The real reason Premier Bracks and Water Minister Thwaite suddenly resigned surely must be linked to their stand on the water issue. I wonder what threats came their way from the hidden power mongers, who are intent on greatly increasing their control of the population through water? What went on behind the scenes is something which will never come out in the media....

Our very dear friend who was a Senator in the Australian Parliament, told how he experienced the very unnerving experience of a quiet word of threat to his family made by a shadowy figure as they walked the steps of Parliament House in Canberra some years ago. Our friend was pursuing a matter which was sensitive to the 'Control Oligarchy' and they wanted him to desist.

I too, when standing as a candidate for the federal elections, had the question asked of me: "…. Are you prepared to put your family at risk…?"

Many of us are aware how this happens all over, making the recent above story a very real speculation.

Lynn Stanfield
(greatly appreciated: Citizens Electoral Council for their information on this and other matters)
