Coroner Doogan Under Attack Yet Again

For the last week Coroner Doogan has been under attack once again and where are the ACT supporters, or for that matter, where is the mass media coverage of the trial.
A Coronial Inquiry, as took place in respect to the holocaust that swept into Canberra and took 4 lives, is done in an inquisitorial manner. Done, so as to delve deep behind the scenes of an incident, accident, or event, in an attempt to not only find out what happened, but to look for hidden reasoning and then deliver recommendations for the future.
Coroner Doogan did exactly as was expected from her by both the Coronial charter (Act) and the desires of the public. Yes, the findings were not to the liking of some, but the greater good achieved by her most professional and comprehensive two-volume report far out weighs any adverse reaction from her comments. Interestingly, the 4 deceased may very well like to have a say in this new challenge.
As per the ACT coronial act, these very people who now have Coroner Maria Doogan before the ACT Supreme Court once again, had foreknowledge of the adverse comments and such responses from these people were included in her official report. In other words, justice under the coronial system of the ACT was, not only seen to be done, but was in fact done.
Chief Justice Higgins who presided over the initial ACT Government sanctioned attempt to vilify Coroner Doogan before the full bench of the Supreme Court (Three Justices), is once again sitting ( deliberating) over this repeat attempt to shut down Coroner Doogan’s most eminent conclusions.
After a 2 million dollar, ACT tax payer funded, failed attack on Coroner Doogan’s credibility by trying to have her removed under a biased claim, 4 of the main players in that prior attempt are now at it again.

It really doesn't matter what political party we belong to or support, Government may consider itself environmentally friendly, or not, as the case may be. The Parliamentarians can give considered opinions to media outlets that are feeding on sensation. Whatever.
While debate rages as to the value of cattle grazing, timber extraction and other industrial uses of our natural public lands, the bush just goes on growing and dying. It takes no notice of our differing opinions.
Dead, dry leaves and twigs fall; branches follow with regularity and undergrowth grows without any assistance from humans, all contribute to a forest fuel load that is highly inflammable, potentially very dangerous.
Animals graze in tree tops, burrow in the ground, hop or waddle around on the forest floor, just as they and their predecessors have done for thousands of years.
So why do we allow our natural, remote lands to suffer through huge raging fires that utterly destroy native flora and fauna?
As the photograph clearly shows, this landscape on the Fiddlers Green Track, near Mongrel Point, not far from Aberfeldy in Gippsland, is sterile from bushfire infernos.
This once pleasant winding track, meandering through cooling glades of trees has been destroyed, burnt with such an intensity the trees are now dead. Soil has been baked to such temperatures tere are no unburned refuge areas. Native animals that love to nest in the hollows of old trees, together with those that burrow in the soil, are dead - there are no birds.
One year after this area was so cruelly burned there is no regrowth or life apart from a weed or two, no coppice on 99% of the trees. Maybe nature will eventually ensure vegetative cover returns, but the environmental damage in the meantime has been immense.
Is this scene, repeated across Victoria - over thousands of hectares - the result of our stewardship? Government officials declare that it is not unnatural, that it will return to life. But will it?
This picture shows the soil erosion caused by very average rainfall late in February and again in June 2007. Bulldozers have repaired the track but valuable topsoil is now down in the creek, choking the aquatic environment in that area.
Can we really explain to posterity this devastation was allowed because the Victorian Treasury heard no voices raised in complaint of government land management, they refused to fund proven effective land management?
Are they considering the true "bottom line"?
When forests are burned and plants regenerate, it can be up to 240 years before water flows are restored. Are they adding that into their balance sheet?
Do we factor in the impact of high intensity fires on the loss of income (and therefore taxes) from tourism, farming and forest industries?
So why is it that in the State of Victoria we are so much more concerned with achieving a 'good bottom line" financial result each year?
Does the environment mean so little to us?
Have we condemned it to the incinerating effect of a surplus of forest floor fuel?
To a deficiency of human interaction through commercial forest activities?
Some may argue farming is also destroying our soils, that cattle graze native shrubs or the timber industry destroys the bushland - but who is worried about the loss of personnel who can get in, right after the lightning strikes, to extinguish the fires.
By the time the so-called professionals get into the bush, brew up and await instructions, the experienced volunteer old timers would have had the fire extinguished.
In an article to "The Australian" dated 20th January 2003, USA Fire Historian, Prof. Stephen Pyne, concluded that 'Australia does not have a fire problem; it has many fire problems. Some have technical fixes, most involve political choices that will express social and economic values. But as debates swirl, it is wise to remember that fire is not listening, that it really doesn't care, that it will respond only to the logic of wind, fuel, and terrain. If a proposal does not see the problem as fire does - then those implacable flames will ignore it.
What worries me more than anything is that the Greens seem not to care about the wiping out of native animal habitat, the massive destruction of the forest, animals and birds.
Only the silence of that devastated land is broken by engine sounds of four wheel drive vehicle, and the only life in the area is the driver and passengers.
We are now at fifty weeks since the bushfire inferno devastated the area and no sign of renewal.
What will our natural areas of Victoria look like when they are all sterilised?

as he built the Rural Fire Service empire for his masters, we now see recently appointed Commissioner, Shane Fitzsimmons (pictured), quoted himself to be, "experienced to do the job, and will not be told how to do that job", has in current media, presented spin required to sanction the hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars for this organisation, which only survives on gratuity of their VOLUNTEER fire fighters time and availability.
Welcoming the arrival of the latest Fire Fighting Skycrane Helicopter, the Commissioner stated, "this could be our worst Bush Fire Season EVER".
He further quoted, "the reason for this was the ABOVE AVERAGE rainfall creating above normal fuel loads on the ground". Not a mention of MASSIVE fuel loads
allowed to build on public lands, awaiting ignition, which has nothing to do with weather . Hazzard reduction keeps fuel loads down Shane, that is what experience is all about

 Observations from our team, plus the editor travelling large areas of NSW over the past two months, that ground fuel loads on government land are mountainous, one to mention is a drive along the Pacific Highway from Newcastle to Taree and along side the roadway in the Myall National Park right to the fences if meters high dead trees and tinder box fuels so thick you cannot see into the parks beyond that fence line.

If there is nothing to burn then that fire will extinguish, but controlled by bureaucracy, we sit around while the RFS empire, on a $460 million dollar + budget, accountable to politicians only, will set in place their plans hatched from academia and pamphlet professors, rarely experienced bushfire fighters, with the cloned commissioner, like Nero, fiddling as the forest and farms burn.

Do you remember February 1993 in England , when a young boy of 3 was taken from a Liverpool shopping centre by two 10-year-old boys? Jamie Bulger walked away from his mother for only a second, Jon Venables took his hand and led him out of the mall with his friend Robert Thompson.
They took Jamie on a walk for over 2 and a half miles, along the way stopping every now and again to torture the poor little boy who was crying constantly for his mummy.
Finally they stopped at a railway track where they brutally Kicked him, threw stones at him, rubbed paint in his eyes, pushed batteries up his anus and cut his fingers off with scissors. Other mutilations were inflicted but not reported in the press. What these two boys did was so horrendous that Jamie's mother was forbidden to identify his body.
They then left his beaten small body on railway tracks so a Train could run him over to hide the mess they had created. These two boys, even being boys, understood what they did was wrong, hence trying to make it look like an accident.
This week Lady Justice Butler-Sloss has awarded the two boys Anonymity for the rest of their lives when they leave with new identities. They have also left custody early only serving just over half of their sentence. They are being relocated to Australia to live out the rest of their lives. They disgustingly and violently took Jamie's life away and in return they each get a new life!

Impersonating a Federal Minister - Mrs Della Bosca
Labor candidate, and MP in waiting for Robertson on the NSW Central Coast, Belinda Neal, seems to be ashamed of her married name - Dela Bosca. Could hubby John, NSW Labor minister cause this Federal aspirant to be distancing from the matrimonial harmony they project?
Liberal incumbent, and a ministerial millstone to the party, Jim Lloyd, is trailing Mrs Della Bosca with a final result still to be announced.
As reflected to most who know Mrs Della Bosca, she has an arrogant streak and last week it was quoted in the NSW Central Coast Express, that she, under orders from PM Rudd, attended the Woy Woy campus as a Member of Parliament, hosting a photo in that newspaper with the school captain.
It is just this arrogance that make people wish Jim Lloyd another term in office.
At this stage figures from the Woy Woy peninsular show Mrs Della Bosca with 64% of the poll, and Jim Lloyd 69% in Somersby Mount White.
So where does this ego driven person get off impersonating a member of parliament. There are penalties for that nonsense.

At the Bay View hotel in Woy Woy NSW, Mrs Della Bosca, on Wednesday night, held a victory party for the Labor party faithfull, and still the outcome has not be proclaimed
as to who had the seat of Robertson. Her arrogance still shines but could dim as Jim Lloyd, Liberal candidate, closes the gap fast while still the counting continues.
