My Say
With two breaking stories under the belt, I held up the Friday issue until now hoping to release some goodies but we now need to wait a few days more.
It never amazes us here at SOS-NEWS just how convinced the Radical Greens are that thinking people except their spin. We never include people who are concerned about the environment, with an ability to look outside the square of corrupt science, that the ratbags use as base fact.
We await the bait our predictable greenies will place on the hooks - "preference votes" - for the self preservation greed ridden pollies to take, thus securing them office,
and for the nation, "another nail in the coffin".
Bob (devious) Debus, Labors new "candidate in hiding", will be the same asset he was to the NSW government.
His policies from the environment portfolio caused mass destruction to our national parks from his directed mismanagement.
But who will we see hold that position if Labor wins government in Canberra - Peter Garrett, far from the good oil, or devious, a proven failure.
The odds are shortening on Malcolm Turnbull for PM, as the Costello support group now fill a phone box.
Comforting thoughts if John Howard takes a runner. He does reflect his leadership in the beam of Bob Menzies record, and any hint of loosing his seat,
as well as his government, may force an issue.
Then we have a Rudd Thud hitting the power band presenting another dictator with different puppet masters.
David Graham, of reality TV "Brig Brother" fame, may have to sell up his farm after loosing 1000 sheep to the drought.
A last option is selling lambs on the internet for Dave, who deserves your visit to his site. Check out the meat as this farmers is giving in without a fight to save his farm.
We have a collection of PPS files that are from humour to serious.
You may open them from the link or save them to you PC.

1998 no longer the warmest year on record
An example of the Y2K discontinuity in action (Source: NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies) Years of bad data corrected.
My earlier column this week detailed the work of a volunteer team to assess problems with US temperature data used for climate modeling. One of these people is Steve McIntyre, who operates the site climateaudit.org. While inspecting historical temperature graphs, he noticed a strange discontinuity, or "jump" in many locations, all occurring around the time of January, 2000.
These graphs were created by NASA's Reto Ruedy and James Hansen (who shot to fame when he accused the administration of trying to censor his views on climate change). Hansen refused to provide McKintyre with the algorithm used to generate graph data, so McKintyre reverse-engineered it. The result appeared to be a Y2K bug in the handling of the raw data.
McKintyre notified the pair of the bug; Ruedy replied and acknowledged the problem as an "oversight" that would be fixed in the next data refresh.
NASA has now silently released corrected figures, and the changes are truly astounding. The warmest year on record is now 1934. 1998 (long trumpeted by the media as record-breaking) moves to second place. 1921 takes third. In fact, 5 of the 10 warmest years on record now all occur before World War II. Anthony Watts has put the new data in chart form, along with a more detailed summary of the events.
The effect of the correction on global temperatures is minor (some 1-2% less warming than originally thought), but the effect on the U.S. global warming propaganda machine could be huge.
Then again -- maybe not. I strongly suspect this story will receive little to no attention from the mainstream media.
Residing within the elected downunder dictatorship, viewing democracy only from polling booth opening, until close between elections, reflects our Australia has been taken by politician's unchecked self-imposed dictatorship.
Has you're gumption disintegrated so low you allow political party dictatorship to flourish?
Your fathers, their fathers, world-renowned fighters from downunder, fought where thousands died in theatres of war to preserve Australian democracy, when a stroke of YOUR pen will restore our given rights.
Storm clouds of spin cultivated under the two party political think tanks are bandied around for pending election jousting tournaments.
Mainstream media harvest millions of dollars each election time, irrespective of political commitment from either major parties. Governments of the day disguise
party propaganda as constituent information, funded by your taxpayer dollars.
Opposition funding remain reliant on trade unions, party faithful, with corporate scraps hedging an each way bet on election day outcome.
This climate, discourages scant hero journalists to write irrefutable facts when the known equation of publication is - "editors pen = his masters voice control factor x 100%".
Trial by media is a sanctioned national sport, always condoning collateral damage with null and void accountability.
SOS-NEWS received 1612 emails today, none from establishment media, or governments, this would seem to place our 46,000+ mailing list computers, to be a
formidable foe, over such deafening silence as recognition may increase SOS-NEWS popularity.
Of this email content, 524 supported our coverage concerning the current media trial of 71 year old farmer, Ruth Downey, who they seem wish to burn at the stake.
Ruth watched as the RSPCA executed her cattle, leaving the calves motherless. To read that story - http://sosnews.org/news/2007-8/july13th.htm
The orphaned calves have not YET been slaughtered, as they await the pleasure of CEO, Bernie Murphy, of the NSW - RSPCA, who drops the hand for execution orders
upon owner 71 year old Ruth Downey's cattle, the scene of recent killing fields where their bovine mothers senseless execution took place.
There is no compensation to the farmer with market price of poor condition stock around $600 per head, $800 with calves - 48 head of her cattle, many not shot in the head,
but gut shot, left with their legs kicking until they expired. We understand there is video evidence to support the actions.
The controlled NSW Daily Telegraph managed to squeeze three paragraphs on page 9- issue Tuesday 7th August with the following opening paragraph;
A FARMER will face court after 48 "STARVING COWS" had to be destroyed on a property in the state's northwest".
Not a journalists by-line in sight, but paragraph two clarifies Ruth's name, the following third paragraph lays down the penalty options.
Television networks footage did similar coverage, loaded to suit their program agenda at any cost for NEWS.
Speaking with Ruth Downey, who is overwhelmed with your support readers, totaling over 5,000 emails, said, I am now left with 13 motherless calves that I am hand feeding,
one was just 2 days old when they shot its mother and another was 4 days old. Today I hope will be the last day of giving them two feeds a day.
It's a long trip to the cattle yard with 10 buckets holding 2 gallons of feed for the calves twice a day, not to mention the lifting in and out of the washing tubs, also twice a day for a 71 year old woman.
We have established Ruth is to answer 96 charges of cruelty, two for each animal shot by the RSPCA, in the Narrrabri court on August 28th 2007.
Further inquiries by SOS-NEWS led us to other families on the land in the same area being subjected to RSPCA inquisitors.
Again we repeat, there is a need for an animal protection group, but there is also the need for them to work under the charter set when the RSPCA was formed,
not in the dictatorial manner that it appears such organisation's are working under today.
There is no room for bureaucratic teams of manipulators who draw massive expenses from a public organisation, to develop their private empires,
while presenting a façade to the donating public of care and concern. Farmers in drought being just one point of major concern it would seem as the
information rolls in from all over Australia to SOS-NEWS.

Further Debate
Dear Editor,
In the first instance I need to commend Louise Burge, farmer and Chair of the NSW Farmers' Association Conservation & Resource Management Committee for her informed and extensive reply to my
letter to Malcolm Turnbull (SOS-NEWS August 8th 2007 - click here to read that issue) .
Indeed, the driver behind my letter (SOS-NEWS July 31st 2007 - click here to read that issue)
was concern over the need for a comprehensive approach to water management in Australia and that has always been my position long before Malcolm Turnbull entered parliament, long before the over allocation of irrigation licences, long before the drive towards corporatisation and privatisation of Australia's water including the Snowy Scheme.
Of note, is the trend towards privatisation reflected in the comment made by Snowy Hydro CEO Terry Charlton to the Tumbarumba Shire recently when he said words to the effect that once water is in the Murrumbidgee and Murray Rivers it is already privatised.
If that is Mr Charlton's or anyone else's understanding and approach then they need to refer to the Australian Constitution Section 100.
No, our water is not privatised. It is on loan and indeed, if we the public charged Snowy Hydro to use our public water resources to generate energy, Snowy Hydro would never break even.
The fact remains, that many people rely on water from the Snowy Mountains hence my concern over sustainable water management and public ownership of those water resources.
Perhaps I may note the points of agreement first of all:
The need for comprehensive water management including urban rain and storm water capture and sustainable water use in rural areas with the baseline of sustainable population projections for Australia.
MIS schemes impacting on sober water management impacting on food production.
Water trading causing strong flows in the Murray unavailable to farmers.
Historic nature of the Murray River flows and implications for community water supplies most notably, Adelaide.
Action on salinity and regional differences for example, West Australian forests.
Risk of corporatisation of water - essentially the driver for my letter to Mr Turnbull and large water transfers including between catchments.
Existing transparency in investment partners with the qualification that water pricing may force small farms out of production opening the door for larger investors to purchase land and water.
Need to apply a carbon tax instead of carbon trading to control emissions.
Impact and burden felt by farming community from drought and failure in applying wisdom and common sense in land Management practices. Indeed, the very reason why we fought to hard to retain Snowy Hydro in public ownership and management.
Impact of intense drought and ensuing 'holocaust' fires on the high country with undoubted profound and enduring consequences on the water catchment area with implications for all water users from the Snowy catchments.
The role of 'mother nature' sobering current water management practices.
In this respect the Snowy Mountains community fought to protect water rights for
western district water users, farmers and regional communities. Since the Scheme the Snowy River has flowed at around 1% of its natural flow and indeed, sees around 4% at present with governments writing agreements and legislation to force compensation for return of some environmental flows to the Snowy River.
The 1998 Webster Report prior to the corporatisation of the Snowy Scheme recommended around 28% natural flows, which is a reasonable starting point for most rivers.
That the Snowy, Eucumbene and Upper Murrumbidgee Rivers and their alpine catchments, fens, streams and sub-alpine tributaries, for example, the Mowamba has sacrificed life-giving flows for the benefit of the Murray River users is certainly not the original condition of mother nature for these rivers.
If indeed, the reverse situation applied where the upper Murray River was diverted to the Snowy river the perspective would be quite different.
This photo below was taken in the last week shows a vital and healthy upper Murray River. Now, due to diverted natural flows, the Snowy River at its mouth does not

SMILE
Just before the funeral services, the undertaker came up to the very elderly widow and asked,
"How old was your husband?"
"98," she replied. "Two years older than me."
"So you're 96," the undertaker commented.
She responded, "Hardly worth going home, is it"
AUSTRALIA'S PAST
We will be featuring old advertisements in each issue that will bring back memories for some, and be a revelation for others.
This was a time when people were consulted by government, and you could walk the streets at night.
